Kel Balnaves

By June 13, 2011No Comments

Polite, well mannered and occasionally irritable, Kel Balnaves is the proud owner of a knackered Range Rover, a home brew kit, a degree and a green thumb. What more could you ever want? For those of you not impressed by that, he is also a young upstart comedian, writer and performer from Adelaide.

Kel began performing standup comedy in 2006 after a flare up of a disease he was born which resulted in high levels of sarcasm. He is now a regular performer on the Adelaide Comedy circuit and has also performed interstate and overseas!

Kel has twice made the state finals of the Raw Comedy competition both in 2007 and 2008. He was also a state finalist in the Green Faces comedy competition in 2008.

Kel has performed in two Adelaide Fringe Festivals, the first in 2008 as part of the “Village Idiots” show, the second in 2011 with very successful seasons of “Taking The Piss” and “The Thursday Show.” “The Thursday Show” was co written with Ed Kuhne and was their first show written entirely for a Fringe Festival. It was very well received.

In 2009 and 2010 Kel travelled extensively throughout North and Central America and Europe qualifying him as “one of those annoying people with a travel anecdote for every conversation.”

He is now working on his next major project, so keep your eye out. In the mean time you can catch Kel performing all throughout the year.
