Bron Lewis – ‘Who’s Talking?!’

Feb 21, 2025
- Feb 22, 2025
6:30 pm
Rhino Room's Drama Llama

Ever wanted to know what your high school teacher actually thought of you? Or whether she believed your excuses? Or what she wanted to say to the Year 8 boy who refused to leave the class? Well, you’re going to want to see this show.

Before Bron Lewis was one of Australia’s most promising new comedians, she was a high school teacher for almost a decade. It was an era where she both nurtured young hearts, encouraged kids to be brilliant, but she also made some lifelong enemies. You’ll hear more about them this show than the nerds. Bron became a teacher because she hates learning – she would rather saw off her own legs then learn a new card game. Bron raises the question: what happens when someone tries to avoid learning at all costs? They teach. Sit down, and get ready to learn.

And Ray (sold out tours to Melbourne, Edinburgh and more) will get round to it but first he has to do this comedy show.

Claire Hooper – Nothing To See Here

Feb 21, 2025
- Feb 23, 2025
6:30 pm
The Howling Owl Monocle

If a Claire Hooper falls over in the forest and nobody sees, does it make a sound?

It’s a trick question. Somebody always sees.

This is a show for anyone who’s ever tripped on something that wasn’t there, waved across the room to someone who didn’t see them, had to spend too much time in a busy airplane toilet or suffered any other small, public humiliation and kept smiling.

You’ll have seen Claire on Spicks and SpecksHave You Been Paying Attention? and pretty much every other comedy, cooking and panel show, as well as hosting the podcast I’m The Worst with Claire Hooper.

She’s also been falling over in public, physically and emotionally, for as long as she can remember.

Winner – Piece of Wood Award, Melbourne Comedy Festival 2024

Wanting to do the right thing and doing the right thing are a mile apart.

Good intention doesn’t always result in good practice

Lindsay wants to share some tips, social life hacks and highlight some of his failures. Not all of them its only a 50min show

This is a fun look at how we navigate the new space of Woke culture, especially good for People with Old Habits.

Brett Blake – Little Turd

Feb 21, 2025
- Mar 1, 2025
7:30 pm
Rhino Room Hell's Kitchen

In 2002 Brett Blake was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and assaulting a public officer. Is he guilty? You be the judge.

He was 16 years old and facing a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

What happened next surprised him, his parents, his lawyers, the neighbours and even the judge.

This is a story of the importance of second chances, the hypocritical expectations we have of young people, and how your number one enemy might just end up being your biggest champion.

Only Brett can manage to make a story of police brutality, learning disabilities, questionable 90’s parenting and growing up in a shit suburb “funny”.

Seen on 2024 Melbourne Comedy Festival GalaQuestion EverythingSpicks and Specks and co-host of Work Hates Podcast.

Directed by Tom Ballard.

Testimonials

Walking through the doors of the Rhino Room always reminds me of what I like about comedy. In the dirty little green room all are equal. Reputations are left at the door. New comics swap punch-lines with people you would normally only see on the TV. But if a comedian is killing on stage, then the backstage empties and every comic is found side stage, watching, laughing, riding the energy of the gig. The outside world doesn’t exist. It’s all about the show.

Wil Anderson

I love the Rhino Room because it’s the best comedy room in Adelaide. As for the bar … I can always remember walking in but I can never remember walking out. Too much fun.

Tom GleesonGold Logie Winner, Hard Chat and Hard Quiz

What I love about the Adelaide Comedy Gigs is that apart from the providing the opportunity to see top-line comedy acts at about half the price you would pay to see them during the Fringe. There’s somewhere I can go to forget my troubles for a few hours and have a good laugh. It’s the best form of therapy I know! And as a regular comedygoer, it’s fascinating to watch the comedians (and even individual jokes) develop over time. Plus there’s the satisfaction of knowing that when some of the current crew make it big (which they will), I’ll be able to say “I saw them before they were famous…”

David Hyland

I love Adelaide Comedy because it is a symbol of fun, laughter, friendship and family. It has given me so many wonderful memories in the past few years, and I know it will always be a part of my laugh, whether I be behind the scenes or in the audience. So much love for AC and everyone who help to make it happen.

Lauren ‘Lolly Dolly’ Thiel

The Rhino Room is not only a great venue to see comedy; it’s also THE place to go for a drink if you want to view the comedians in their natural habitat.

Arj Barker

The perfect comedy oasis for great comics to play and create.

A Tribute To The Old Rhino Room

In 2017 the old Rhino Room in Frome St was demolished to make way for progress. Some of the people who loved the Rhino for 20 years banded together to create this tribute to the old girl. Rhino Room has now moved to 131 Pirie St where you can see live comedy every week of the year. Help us start a whole new history for Adelaide’s favourite laugh factory.
