Azeem Banatwalla – Generational

Apr 6, 2025
- Apr 6, 2025
7:00 pm
Rhino Room

Don’t miss Azeem Banatwalla live in the home of Adelaide Comedy, Rhino Room on April 6th.

After a decade attempting to speak truth to power in India, Azeem Banatwalla has lost all his friends. He’s really just doing this show to find actual humans to talk to, because the alternative is staring at a phone screen. With everyone his age raising kids or battling depression, Azeem’s only social interactions are with Gen-Z kids on the internet who call him ‘washed’, ‘cooked’ and other household chores. Worryingly, he has learnt what a ‘griddy’ is. Unfortunately, after this show, so will you. ‘Generational’ is a show about our relationship with our friends and our phones, and how excessive connectedness has, in fact, created the loneliest generation in history.

Azeem Banatwalla is one of India’s most critically acclaimed stand-up comedians, with 4 stand-up specials (two on Amazon Prime Video) and tens of millions of views on his YouTube videos. Known for his keen observational humour, sharp writing and satire, he enjoyed a terrific debut run at MICF in 2024, with 10 sold out shows. This year he’s back to add to that tally.

Azeem also hosts India’s most popular football and F1 podcasts – 44Two and The Sidepod.

“A formidable writer and performer” – Deadant (IN)

“Effortlessly likable” – The Hindu (IN)

“Relatable humour, undeniable charm, and a deep love for his craft” – The New Indian Express (IN)

Inching towards 40, but pretending to be 30, Prashasti can finally mark this dream complete. But instead of happiness, she finds herself pondering if the ascent was even worth the price? In her brand new standup show, Prashasti questions all her life choices and meticulously assigns blame to the women and men who shaped her into this being.

Prashasti Singh is a stand-up comic and writer from India. She can be seen on Netflix’s Ladies Up, Comedy Premium League and Amazon Prime Video’s Comicstaan. She has been touring internationally with her last show Man of the House. Her standup special Door Khadi Sharmaaye is available on YouTube.

7:00 pm
Rhino Room

Witness the coming (out) of age story of a queer Christian Indian, and the many homes and homos he has wrecked.

Noronha grew up in a conservative catholic family in the suburbs of Mumbai, India. He never knew the exciting world that awaited him post coming out of the closet, stumbling into a world of sexy debauchery that would put his favourite parish priest to shame. From tackling sexual taboos in India to crazy threesome adventures, this show has it all!

Navin Noronha is a writer-comedian who also dabbles in podcasting, improv, and production. Born and raised in suburban Mumbai, Navin is one of India’s first out, proud, and loud queer comedian who wishes to make the world a slightly better place before his exit. Ian Bagg – Straya

May 12, 2025
- May 12, 2025
7:00 pm
Rhino Room

Ian Bagg a world-touring comedian whose comedy was recently described as “dangerously flawless” is coming to Adelaide’s Rhino Room May 12th.

Life has been fantastic for this energetic and wildly funny boundary-pushing entertainer. Touring nonstop across North America, he has started taking over the world with Australia, China, and the Middle East. With Europe being one of his latest stops.

His off-the-cuff, quick-witted, animated style has him winning over television audiences. He placed in the finals of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” He made appearances on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Tonight Show,” A popular guest on WTF, YMH,a half-hour comedy featured on Comedy Central and HBO, not to mention one-hour specials on Showtime “Getting to know you” and Amazon Prime “Conversations”! It also has earned him roles in award-winning movies like MVP 2! (humble brag).

His fast-paced multi-direction show has made patrons want to see multiple shows on a weekend. The audience becomes characters in his performance as they answer questions. Most comedians have a monologue; Ian has a dialogue. Attend a show immediately and see why his high school history teacher asked Ian’s parents if there was something he should know about Ian.

Lewis Spears 2025 Live Show

- May 31, 2025
7:00 pm
Rhino Room

Lewis Spears has been creating fake stories to trick his way on to mainstream media outlets his entire career. Don’t miss him Live at Rhino.

Lewis Spears has been creating fake stories to trick his way on to mainstream media outlets his entire career. From pretending to be the famous Australian photographer “Clive Palmer” to fool an American Broadcasting reporter into eating a raw onion on TV to posing as a victim of a digital chastity cage hack for a Vice News Report, Spears is often in the news, but rarely as Lewis.

This year, he set a bigger challenge and somehow got himself cast in a full season of Australia’s biggest reality TV Dating show. Shipped off to an island undercover as a character, Spears had to use every trick in the book to go undetected and make it to air. This show is a dark, silly and outrageous dive into the wild stories behind the headlines with the man Media Watch calls “A Serial Pest”.

Kirsty Webeck – Everything I Need To Say About Sea Creatures

Aug 23, 2025
- Aug 23, 2025
7:00 pm
Rhino Room

Australia’s reigning champion of cheerful comedy, Kirsty Webeck, is heading back to Adelaide to share everything she needs to say about sea creatures.

“I love sea creatures; I learn a lot about them (sometimes organically but often because of some aggressive googling) and I want to let you know about them. Octopuses are out there punching fish for fun and using tools. They’re coming for our jobs, next. This is the awareness raising show the world needs this year.” — Kirsty Webeck

A regular panellist on The ABC’s Question Everything and a favourite in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Galas, Kirsty heads back to Adelaide after a massive 2024 tour which ended with the release of her second standup special on YouTube.

Join Kirsty for a solid night of laughs that will have you quoting her one liners for weeks to come.

“Consistently enjoyable and impossible to dislike.” The Sydney Morning Herald

“Kirsty is killing it, but she’s choosing to Kill with Kindness.” Squirrel Comedy

Testimonials

Walking through the doors of the Rhino Room always reminds me of what I like about comedy. In the dirty little green room all are equal. Reputations are left at the door. New comics swap punch-lines with people you would normally only see on the TV. But if a comedian is killing on stage, then the backstage empties and every comic is found side stage, watching, laughing, riding the energy of the gig. The outside world doesn’t exist. It’s all about the show.

Wil Anderson

I love the Rhino Room because it’s the best comedy room in Adelaide. As for the bar … I can always remember walking in but I can never remember walking out. Too much fun.

Tom Gleeson
Gold Logie Winner, Hard Chat and Hard Quiz

What I love about the Adelaide Comedy Gigs is that apart from the providing the opportunity to see top-line comedy acts at about half the price you would pay to see them during the Fringe. There’s somewhere I can go to forget my troubles for a few hours and have a good laugh. It’s the best form of therapy I know! And as a regular comedygoer, it’s fascinating to watch the comedians (and even individual jokes) develop over time. Plus there’s the satisfaction of knowing that when some of the current crew make it big (which they will), I’ll be able to say “I saw them before they were famous…”

David Hyland

I love Adelaide Comedy because it is a symbol of fun, laughter, friendship and family. It has given me so many wonderful memories in the past few years, and I know it will always be a part of my laugh, whether I be behind the scenes or in the audience. So much love for AC and everyone who help to make it happen.

Lauren ‘Lolly Dolly’ Thiel

The Rhino Room is not only a great venue to see comedy; it’s also THE place to go for a drink if you want to view the comedians in their natural habitat.

Arj Barker

The perfect comedy oasis for great comics to play and create.

Greg Fleet

Adelaide Comedy is definitely the best comedy club in Adelaide. I brought my aging mother there and she had a blast. It’s usually a challenge to get her out of her Mirador senior living community but this was absolutely worth it.

A Tribute To The Old Rhino Room

In 2017 the old Rhino Room in Frome St was demolished to make way for progress. Some of the people who loved the Rhino for 20 years banded together to create this tribute to the old girl. Rhino Room has now moved to 131 Pirie St where you can see live comedy every week of the year. Help us start a whole new history for Adelaide's favourite laugh factory.
