Deb Bland

By June 13, 2011No Comments

Deb Bland has always been a show-off, participating in amateur  theatre productions, improvisation, commedia dell’arte and more recently, stand up comedy. Although relatively new to stand-up, her mum says she’s funny and the surname ‘Bland’ just sells itself. Deb has an Aboriginal mother, an English father and suffers with an extreme identity crisis. She can’t dance, can’t sing and can’t play the didgeridoo. Heck, she even had to look up the spelling before writing this! Deb certainly missed out on any skills in the arts and crafts department, so now, out of pure envy, no one is safe! A fresh spin on life for those who are also “culturally challenged”.

Deb’s first year of comedy has proven fruitful, starting with shows at Rhino Room, Marion Hotel, and the Arkaba, then a successful Fringe show,  “Attack of the Killer Comedians”. Deb was also a Raw Comedy State Finalist in 2010 and 2011.

“Had the crowd in stitches with her good natured jibes about Aboriginal and white Australian cultural interaction” – The Independent

“Stole the show with a refreshing take on Aboriginal stereotypes” – The Advertiser

“Funniest person I have ever been married to” – Brendon Bland, husband.
