We all know Groot, the sentient tree member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. But how much do we really know about him? Who, really, am Groot? I sat down recently to have a face-to-bark conversation.
So, Groot, what’s been happening recently?
I am Groot.
That’s fascinating. The movie seems to be doing well, both in the box office and also receiving some great critical acclaim. Have you enjoyed the response so far?
I am Groot.
What was it like shooting the movie? Was it a fun set and did anyone play pranks?
I am Groot.
No kidding! How did he react?
I am Groot!
[Laughter] Sounds like the movie was a lot of fun. Switching tack now, what do you think about the Gaza situation?I am Groot.
That would probably solve some of the issues, but…
I am Groot.
Oh wow. Just… I’ve never really thought of it in those terms before. Truly an amazing insight which, I think, would solve the problems there once and for all. Have you thought about using your popularity to become a UN ambassador?
I am Groot.
Naturally. Any thoughts on the latest developments in Ferguson, Missouri?
I am Groot?
Personally, I agree with you one hundred per cent and I hope the mayor of Ferguson hears you. And what about Australia’s own issues, now that you’ve spent some time here?
I am Groot.
Yikes! [Laughter] I hope Tony Abbott isn’t listening in.
I am Groot.
Of course, you do have a unique position on the logging industry as well.
I am Groot!
Indeed. Before we close this interview, what about all your new fans, particularly the younger kids. Any words for them?
[Pause]Take your time…
I am Groot.
Beautifully said. It was a pleasure to chat with you.
I am Groot.
