The concept of The Beards is simple: A folk-rock band that exclusively perform songs about just one subject: Beards. Forming in 2005 to perform one show only in their hometown of Adelaide, South Australia, The Beards soon found their truly unique concept in hot demand and were booked to play more shows. Rising to the challenge, the quartet continued to grow their beards longer and longer, and continued to write more and more songs about beards. As they played around town, word spread, and their fanbase grew. By 2007, the band enjoyed a local cult following. But this was just the beginning. The advent of online social networking led to a global fanbase, and in 2009, the band travelled all the way to Alaska to perform at the opening ceremony of the World Beard & Moustache Championships.

Since then, the band has gone on to tour Australia extensively; produce a hugely successful film clip for their song If Your Dad Doesn’t Have a Beard You’ve Got Two Mums; released a live DVD and also two studio albums – with a third on the way (to be released early 2012).

New single: You Should Consider Having Sex with a Bearded Man (out now)

Upcoming album: Having a Beard is the New Not Having a Beard (to be released early 2012)
