Douggy Phillips

By June 13, 2011No Comments

A 20 year veteran of performing, Douggy has taken to comedy like a fly to the proverbial. Lighting up The Rhino Room, The Arkaba Hotel, Saldechin, Queens Arms Hotel, Crown and Anchor Hotel, Marion Cultural Centre, Exford Hotel (Melb), Higher Ground and the Star Theatres, even without the appropriate qualifications to be fiddling with their wiring.

Douggy’s debut year consisted of a jam-packed Fringe 2011 season where he performed as a Semi-Finalist in the Triple J Raw Comedy Competition. Fringe 2011 also saw   Douggy as a Finalist in the Sydney based Comedy Court competition, as well as competing in numerous “Wrong” nights and dropping a guest performance on “Tonight With Tony”.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2011 was calling and Douggy answered, taking the laughs to the Vics for two guest performances at The MICF After Party at The Exford Hotel.

With many more Adelaide gigs planned for the coming months, Douggy’s also taking the laughs over to Sydney this year. 2011 is shaping up to be quite a big one. Not surprising for a guy who has been labeled as one of the freshest and funniest comedians to emerge from the vastly prolific Adelaide scene (and that’s not just his opinion).
